Secure temporary link

Create a secure temporary link with duration, max views, and optional password.

A secure temporary link lets you share an entry’s content. Anyone with the URL can open it. You choose duration, view count, an optional password, and whether attachments are included.

Content is encrypted on your device before upload: the service stores an encrypted payload, not plaintext secrets. Part of the key stays in the URL # fragment (not sent to the server during navigation).

Prerequisites

Vault unlocked

QubKey account signed in

Open the entry → Sharing section → Share via a link

Configure options

Choose expiration, max views, optional link password, recipient message, and whether a “Show” button is required before reveal.

Attachments (optional)

Check Include attachments only if needed. If the total exceeds 25 MB or 10 files, share without attachments, or with a QubKey user.

Click Create link. The full link is copied once to the clipboard. You can Copy again on the success screen.

Encryption and transparency

On your device (or in the browser for web tools): content is encrypted (AES-256-GCM) before upload. The full link includes a # fragment with part of the key — that fragment is typically not sent to the server in the HTTP request.

On the service: encrypted payload, expiration dates, view counters, creator email (QubKey account), and possibly an IP address fingerprint (hash) for security. The “Secure shares” administration UI can show this metadata, not the plaintext secret.

After creation

Link password

If you set a link password, share it separately (another channel). Do not put it in the same message as the URL.

The recipient opens the link in the browser (web tools reveal page) — without installing the app.

Manage and revoke

Under Active links on the entry: expiration date and Revoke. Confirmation states recipients will no longer be able to open the link.

Manage all links on the web opens the account space to extend, revoke, or review all shares.

Link copy

The full link is only copied at creation. For existing links, use web management or “Copy again” right after creation.
